In 1922, The Moslem Sunrise magazine featured a picture (to the left) and a short report about a recent Black convert, Sheik Ahmad Din (P. Nathaniel Johnson). He was described as a "zealous worker for Islam", who had recently been appointed Missionary in St. Louis, Missouri.
An article about Din in the St Louis Dispatch reports that he had acquired one hundred converts during the first six months of his mission in St. Louis (Islam in the African-American Experience, by Richard Brent Turner, page 126).
